The cheapest Minecraft server plans, paying monthly
These are the cheapest Minecraft server plans when you pay monthly, sorted by what you pay each month, without a long contract. On a budget, that is the price that matters most, because a two year term only saves you money if your server is still running two years from now.
| Host and plan | Memory | Processor | Location | Per month | Per GB |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CheapestMinecraftHosting Mini | 2 GB | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5 | Poland (Warsaw) | €1.60 | €0.80 |
| CheapestMinecraftHosting Starter | 4 GB | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5 | Poland (Warsaw) | €3.20 | €0.80 |
| Lodehost Camp | 2 GB | Shared processor | Germany | €5.95 (€4.95 on 24 mo) | €2.98 |
| CheapestMinecraftHosting Plus | 8 GB | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5 | Poland (Warsaw) | €6.40 | €0.80 |
| Astroworld Mini | 4 GB | AMD EPYC | Germany | €7.95 (€6.95 on 24 mo) | €1.99 |
| Astroworld Mini Performance | 4 GB | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5 | Poland (Warsaw) | €7.95 (€6.95 on 24 mo) New customers: €3.18 a month for the first 3 months, 60% off | €1.99 |
| Lodehost Mini | 4 GB | Shared processor | Germany | €7.95 (€6.95 on 24 mo) | €1.99 |
| Lodehost Mini | 4 GB | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5 | Poland (Warsaw) | €7.95 (€6.95 on 24 mo) New customers: €3.18 for the first month, 60% off | €1.99 |
| CheapestMinecraftHosting Builder | 12 GB | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5 | Poland (Warsaw) | €9.60 | €0.80 |
The result is clear: Cheapest Minecraft Hosting charges EUR 0.80 per gigabyte on every plan and every term, which makes it the lowest price at every size we list. CheapestMinecraftHosting Plus gives you 8 GB for €6.40 a month.
At the start, the Performance line costs about the same. New customers get 60% off in Poland, for the first 3 months at Astroworld Hosting and the first payment at Lodehost, so an 8 GB Performance server with reserved Ryzen 9 threads costs €6.38 a month during that time. After that it costs €15.95, while Cheapest Minecraft Hosting keeps the same price every month.
When cheap Minecraft hosting costs you more
Cheap Minecraft hosting only costs you more if you buy too little RAM or a server too far from your players. The plan itself gives up nothing that stops your server from running; the differences are the backups, the location and the shared cores listed above. For most small servers in Europe, none of this is a problem. Even with daily backups added, Cheapest Minecraft Hosting is still the lowest price at every size.
There are two common mistakes. The first is buying less RAM than you need: a 2 GB plan for eight friends is cheap until it crashes. The second is the location: for players outside Europe, a cheap server in Poland is a slow server. In the US, the cheapest good option is the standard line of Lodehost or Astroworld Hosting in your own region.
Free hosts such as Aternos and Minehut cost nothing, but their servers only run while somebody plays. Free Minecraft server hosting compares them with the cheapest paid plans, and 24/7 Minecraft server hosting explains what a server that stays online costs.
For 6 to 10 players with a few plugins on Java in Poland (Warsaw), the finder recommends Cheapest Minecraft Hosting Plus: 8 GB, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5, for €6.40 a month when you pay monthly. The best plans at the other two hosts are Astroworld Starter Performance at €15.95 and Lodehost Starter at €15.95.
Extra costs to check before you order a Minecraft server
The monthly price is not always the whole price. These are the extra costs we found on the hosts' own order pages:
- Setup fee. Astroworld Hosting charges a one-time setup fee of EUR 2.99, or EUR 3.29 for Bedrock, if you pay monthly. Lodehost and Cheapest Minecraft Hosting charge none.
- Backups. Daily backups are included at Astroworld Hosting and Lodehost. At Cheapest Minecraft Hosting one backup is included, and automatic daily backups cost EUR 1.99 a month.
- Location. Outside Germany, the standard line costs a little more each month: the 4 GB plan costs €9.95 in US East instead of €7.95 in Germany. Every price on this site already includes that surcharge.
- Long terms. A 24 month term lowers the monthly price at Astroworld Hosting and Lodehost, but you pay the whole term up front, and Astroworld Hosting does not refund a paid term.
Minecraft server price per GB at larger sizes
Cheapest Minecraft Hosting charges EUR 0.80 per gigabyte at every size. At the other two hosts the price per gigabyte drops as plans get bigger: 8 GB costs €12.95 on the standard line, but 24 GB costs €23.95, about one euro per gigabyte. So for a big server with daily backups included, the gap between the cheapest host and the others gets small. Compare the sizes on our pages for 8 GB and 24 GB Minecraft hosting.
