Which Minecraft hosting plans include a free website?
Every Minecraft hosting plan with 8 GB of RAM or more includes a free website at Astroworld Hosting and Lodehost. At Astroworld Hosting that covers every Java, Bedrock and crossplay plan from 8 GB, and any custom build of 8 GB or more. At Lodehost it covers the Java and Crossplay plans from Starter up, Titan included. Cheapest Minecraft Hosting does not include a website with its plans.
| Host | Java | Bedrock | Crossplay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Astroworld Hosting | Starter, 8 GB €12.95 a month in Germany | Town, 12 GB €14.95 a month in Germany | Starter Crossplay, 8 GB €14.95 a month in Germany |
| Lodehost | Starter, 8 GB €12.95 a month in Germany | No Bedrock-only plans | Starter Crossplay, 8 GB €14.95 a month in Germany |
| Cheapest Minecraft Hosting | Not included | Not included | Not included |
The two smallest Lodehost plans, Camp with 2 GB and Mini with 4 GB, come without the website. On Bedrock, the first Astroworld plan with a website is Town with 12 GB, because Village, the plan below it, has 6 GB. Starting small does not lock you out: at Lodehost, moving the same server up to 8 GB adds the website and keeps your world as it is.
What can you build with the Minecraft server website builder?
The Minecraft server website builders at both hosts give you 23 sections to stack on a page, and 22 of them are free. A site can have up to 8 pages, so your rules, your ranks and your news can each get a page of their own. You add a section, fill in its fields and move it up or down. There is no code editor and no theme to install.
- Joining the server: Server status, a Hero with a big heading and two buttons, numbered Steps for new players and Game modes for a network.
- Rules and help: a Rules list, an FAQ and a Need help? bar with one question and one button.
- Ranks and shop: a Rank grid with the perks and price of each rank, and a Shop button that links to the store you already use.
- Community: Discord, Community, Team, News and Vote, which links to the server lists you are on.
- Your world: a Gallery for screenshots, a Leaderboard, a Countdown to a launch or a new season, and Numbers for figures such as players online.
- Layout: About this server, Page intro, Categories and Links.
The 23rd section, Live players, shows who is online with their player heads, a graph of the player count and the uptime. It belongs to the paid tier at both hosts.
A new site starts from one of seven designs: Survival, Skyblock, Network, Factions, SMP, Prison and Creative. Survival is the free design and opens as a finished site with a home page, a shop page and a rules page. On top of the design you choose one of 9 color themes and one of 16 backgrounds. Our guide to Minecraft server website templates compares all seven designs.
Minecraft server status on your website
The free website shows your Minecraft server status by itself: the server address, whether the server is online, the Minecraft version and how many players are on right now. The status section reads all of this from your server, and a copy button next to the address puts it on the visitor's clipboard.
That sounds like a small thing, but it is what goes wrong on many server websites that people build themselves. Someone types the address and the version by hand, the server moves or updates, and the site keeps telling new players something that is no longer true. A status that comes from the server itself cannot go out of date.
Is the Minecraft server website really free?
Yes, the Minecraft server website is free on every plan from 8 GB at Astroworld Hosting and Lodehost. The builder, the hosting, the web address and the https certificate are part of the plan price, the website never shows up as a separate line on your invoice, and there is no trial that runs out.
Both hosts also sell an optional paid tier for servers that want more. At Astroworld Hosting it costs €11.99 a month per site and adds a premium design, your own domain name, extra pages and sections, your own images, Live players with a graph and uptime, visitor statistics and a faster review. Lodehost's paid tier adds the six premium designs, your own domain, extra sections and pages, your own images, Live players, visitor statistics and a review with priority. Its website page does not list a price.
What the free site does not have is your own domain name and the premium designs. For most servers that is fine: a clear page with the address, the rules and a Discord link does more for new players than a custom domain.
Do you need a website for your Minecraft server?
A public Minecraft server needs a website more than a private one, because new players look a server up before they join and want the address, the version and the rules in one place. For a few friends on a whitelist, a Discord channel with the address pinned does the same job.
The free website makes the most sense on a plan you would choose anyway. Ten players with plugins need about 7 GB of RAM, so they end up on an 8 GB plan and get the website at no extra cost. If your server runs well on 4 GB, compare the prices first: at Lodehost, Mini with 4 GB costs €7.95 a month and Starter with 8 GB costs €12.95. For the difference you get twice the RAM as well as the website, which leaves room for more players later. The Minecraft server RAM calculator shows how much RAM your own server needs.
Minecraft server website hosting: review, https and no ads
Minecraft server website hosting is part of the plan at both hosts: the site runs on their machines with https, carries no advertising and goes online after a short review. When you press Publish, the site goes through an automatic content check and then past a person at the host, usually within a few hours. Later changes are reviewed the same way, while the version that is already online stays up.
The footer of a free site has one line that says who hosts it, one line that says the content belongs to the server owner and a link to report a page. A published site is open to search engines with its own title, description and canonical address, so players can find your server by its name. The site belongs to the server: it stays online as long as the server runs and stops when the server stops.
The steps are in our guide on how to make a Minecraft server website. Each host also describes its free website on its own site: Astroworld Hosting and Lodehost.
