How much RAM does an MC Eternal 2 server need?
An MC Eternal 2 server needs about 15 GB of RAM for five players, 20 GB for ten and 30 GB for twenty. That is our rule for the heaviest packs, about 10 GB before anyone joins plus about 1 GB per player, and MC Eternal 2 belongs there: Astroworld Hosting counted 610 mods in version 1.3, and 549 of them load on the server.
| Players online | RAM needed | Plan size | Lowest price for that size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 to 5 | 15 GB | 16 GB | CheapestMinecraftHosting Pro, €12.80 a month in Poland (Warsaw) |
| 6 to 10 | 20 GB | 24 GB | CheapestMinecraftHosting Crew, €19.20 a month in Poland (Warsaw) |
| 11 to 20 | 30 GB | 32 GB | CheapestMinecraftHosting Guild, €25.60 a month in Poland (Warsaw) |
Astroworld Hosting plans 9 GB for up to three players, 12 GB for four to eight and 16 GB for nine to sixteen. The pack itself asks players for a PC with 16 GB of RAM and 8 to 10 GB for the game, and its page adds that in multiplayer the server carries much of the processor and memory load. We size for that load with colonies in it, because MineColonies is where MC Eternal 2 servers grow fastest.
MC Eternal 2 server requirements and Java version
An MC Eternal 2 server needs Java 17, Forge 47.4.2 for Minecraft 1.20.1 and a processor with more than one fast core. Java 17 is the version for Minecraft 1.20.1, while Java 25 is for Minecraft 26.1 and later, and the hosts we compare set Java for you. The extra cores are for MineColonies: the pack raises its pathfinding to 2 extra threads, twice the mod's default, so citizens find their routes next to the main game thread instead of on it.
How to fix MC Eternal 2 server lag
To fix MC Eternal 2 server lag, start with ServerCore, a server mod already in the pack whose automatic mode is switched off. Set enabled: true under dynamic in config/servercore/config.yml, then run /servercore reload or restart the server. ServerCore then aims for 35 milliseconds per tick and, when the server falls behind, lowers the chunk tick distance, the mob caps, the simulation distance and the view distance one step at a time, and raises them again when it recovers.
Three more settings in the pack explain lag that looks strange:
- Spawn chunks are off. ServerCore stops the server from keeping spawn loaded, so a farm or machine built at spawn stops when nobody is nearby.
- Breeding is capped. Animals stop breeding at 32 of one kind within 64 blocks, and villagers at 32, which keeps big pens from piling up.
- Chunky is included. Run
chunky radius 2000andchunky startbefore your group joins, so exploring does not generate terrain during play.
MineColonies on an MC Eternal 2 server
MC Eternal 2 sets MineColonies up for a harder, lighter server than the mod's defaults: a colony holds at most 100 citizens instead of 250, and raids come about every 7 nights instead of every 14, with up to 160 barbarians at the highest horde difficulty. The settings are in world/serverconfig/minecolonies-server.toml, copied from the pack's defaults when the world is created.
| Setting | MC Eternal 2 | MineColonies default |
|---|---|---|
| Citizens per colony | 100 | 250 |
| Nights between raids, on average | 7 | 14 |
| Largest raid | 160 barbarians | 80 barbarians |
| Horde difficulty, 0 to 10 | 10 | 5 |
| Extra pathfinding threads | 2 | 1 |
| Colony kept loaded while an owner is in it | No | Yes |
The last row matters on a shared server. A colony only works while its chunks are loaded, and with that setting off the pack does not keep a town loaded for its owner, so building and farming wait until a player is close by. It also keeps an empty server light.
How to claim chunks in MC Eternal 2
MC Eternal 2 claims chunks with FTB Chunks, and the pack lets each player claim 80 chunks and force-load 5 of them. Claims are blocked in the End and in the Great Beyond dimension, so a claim that fails there is the pack working as set up. Colonies have their own land on top of that: a town hall starts with 4 chunks in every direction and can grow to 20, with at least 8 chunks between two colonies.
How to make an MC Eternal 2 server
An MC Eternal 2 server takes 4 steps, and the first start is the slow one:
- Order 16 GB for up to five players, or 24 GB for ten, with Forge as the server type.
- Install MC Eternal 2 from CurseForge in the panel, in the version your group has. Astroworld Hosting and Lodehost do it in one click, and Cheapest Minecraft Hosting from its Mods tab.
- Start it and wait. With 549 mods, several minutes pass before the console prints Done, and every restart takes about as long, so restart when nobody is in the middle of a raid.
- Pre-generate with Chunky, turn on ServerCore's dynamic mode and then invite your group.
Best MC Eternal 2 server hosting plans
The best MC Eternal 2 server hosting for five players is a 16 GB plan with several fast threads, because colonies and machines run side by side.
For 2 to 5 players with an expert modpack on Java in Poland (Warsaw), the finder recommends Astroworld Hosting Advanced Performance: 16 GB, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5, for €40.95 a month when you pay monthly. As a new customer you pay €16.38 a month for the first 3 months, 60% off. The best plans at the other two hosts are Lodehost Premium at €46.95 and CheapestMinecraftHosting Pro at €12.80.
| If you want | Host and plan | Memory | Processor | Location | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lowest price | CheapestMinecraftHosting Pro | 16 GB | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5 | Poland (Warsaw) | €12.80 |
| Balanced | Astroworld Advanced Performance | 16 GB | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5 | Poland (Warsaw) | €40.95 (€36.95 on 24 mo) New customers: €16.38 a month for the first 3 months, 60% off |
