ATM9 server hosting

ATM9 server hosting needs about 13 GB of RAM for five players, so a 16 GB plan, because All the Mods 9 puts more than 400 mods on Forge 1.20.1 with the ATM Star at the end. Here is how much RAM an ATM9 server needs, how to set it up and which plans fit.

Two RAM sticks among Minecraft grass blocks: memory for a modpack server

The short answer

An ATM9 server needs about 13 GB of RAM for five players, 18 GB for ten and 28 GB for twenty, so a 16, 24 or 32 GB plan. ATM9 runs on Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Java 17, and how much your group automates matters more than how many players are online.

What does an ATM9 server need?

  • 16 GB for a small group

13 GB for five players by our rule, so a 16 GB plan, and 24 GB for ten.

  • Forge 1.20.1

ATM9 is a Forge pack on Java 17. ATM10 is the NeoForge 1.21.1 version.

  • A fast core for factories

Mekanism, AE2 and mob farms all tick on the server's main thread.

ATM9 grows with your automation: mob farms and force-loaded bases cost the server more than extra players do.

How much RAM does an ATM9 server need?

An ATM9 server needs about 13 GB of RAM for five players, 18 GB for ten and 28 GB for twenty. All the Mods 9 loads more than 400 mods on the server, so it needs about 8 GB before anyone places a block, and every player adds about 1 GB for the chunks, machines and mobs around them. That is our rule for large kitchen-sink packs. It sits at the careful end on purpose, because an ATM9 server that runs out of memory does not slow down, it crashes.

Astroworld Hosting, which counted 432 mods in the newest release, lists ATM9 at 8 GB for up to three players, 10 GB for four to eight and 14 GB for larger groups, and tells groups that build big to read the row below their own. Our numbers already include that room.

ATM9 server requirements

An ATM9 server needs Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1, Java 17, a fast processor core and NVMe storage. Java is set for you by the hosts we compare. The core matters because Mekanism ore lines, Applied Energistics 2 and Refined Storage networks and every mob farm run on the main thread twenty times a second. Two things push the load up faster than most groups expect: mob farms that keep crowds alive in one spot, and FTB Chunks, which lets teams force-load their base so its machines run while nobody is there.

How to make an ATM9 server

An ATM9 server takes four steps, and the first start is the slow one:

  1. Order a plan with 16 GB or more for up to five players, with Forge as the server software.
  2. Install the pack from the panel. Astroworld Hosting and Lodehost install CurseForge modpacks in one click, and Cheapest Minecraft Hosting from its Mods tab. Pick All the Mods 9, not ATM9 To the Sky, which is a separate skyblock pack.
  3. Start the server and wait. The first start of a 400-mod pack takes several minutes while every mod registers its blocks and recipes.
  4. Give your players the address. They install All the Mods 9 in the same version from the CurseForge app and join.

ATM9 server files and server pack

The ATM9 server files are the server pack the ATM Team publishes with each release on CurseForge, with the configs and without the client-only mods. A one-click installer downloads it for the version you choose. Updates to ATM9 have slowed since ATM10 took over as the active pack, so the mod list barely moves any more, which makes ATM9 a calm pack to run for a long world.

ATM9 or ATM10 for a server?

Choose ATM10 for a new world and ATM9 if your group already has a world on it or wants the 1.20.1 mods. ATM10 is the same idea on NeoForge 1.21.1 and still gets regular updates; ATM9 stays on Forge 1.20.1. Both need about the same RAM by our rule. A world does not move from one pack to the other. ATM10 is compared on ATM10 server hosting.

How to keep an ATM9 server fast

  • Profile before you upgrade. The pack includes spark, which shows the block or mob that takes the time.
  • Keep force-loading modest. Set the FTB Chunks limit per player in the world's server config.
  • Pre-generate the world before players spread out, so the server is not building modded chunks while they explore.
  • Restart once a day to clear memory that a large pack slowly fills.

Best ATM9 server hosting plans

The best ATM9 server hosting for a group of five is a 16 GB plan, and 24 GB for ten.

Before you buy an ATM9 server

  1. Forge 1.20.1, not NeoForge

ATM9 runs on Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Java 17. ATM10 is the NeoForge pack.

  2. ATM9, not To the Sky

ATM9 To the Sky is a separate skyblock pack; pick the one your group plays.

  3. Limit force-loaded chunks

Set the FTB Chunks limit per player before bases start running day and night.

Questions about ATM9 server hosting

How much RAM does an ATM9 server need?

An ATM9 server needs about 13 GB for five players, 18 GB for ten and 28 GB for twenty, so a 16, 24 or 32 GB plan. A group that automates heavily should take the next size up.

Is ATM9 on Forge or NeoForge?

Forge, for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Java 17. ATM10 is the NeoForge pack, for Minecraft 1.21.1.

ATM9 or ATM10, which one should my server run?

ATM10 for a new world, because it is the newer pack and still updated. ATM9 if your group already has a world on it or wants the 1.20.1 mods.

Is ATM9 To the Sky the same pack?

No. ATM9 To the Sky is a separate skyblock pack from the same team, with its own mod list and releases. Pick the one your group plays in the installer.

How much does an ATM9 server cost?

A 16 GB server for up to five players costs €12.80 a month at Cheapest Minecraft Hosting and €40.95 with reserved Ryzen 9 threads at Astroworld Hosting. For ten players, 24 GB costs from €19.20.

Why does an ATM9 server take so long to start?

Because more than 400 mods each register their blocks, items and recipes before the world loads. Several minutes on the first start is normal; the console says Done when players can join.

Can I host an ATM9 server for free?

Not for a group. ATM9 loads more than 400 mods and needs about 13 GB of RAM for five players, and a free host stops or pauses the server when it is empty, so your machines stop with it. A 16 GB plan costs €12.80 a month. Read free Minecraft server hosting for when a free host is enough.
