How much RAM does a Cobblemon server need?
A Cobblemon server needs about 8 GB of RAM for five players, 10 GB for ten players and 15 GB for twenty. The Cobblemon Official Modpack is light: 73 mods, of which 30 only matter on the player's computer, which leaves 43 on the server. Most of the work comes from Cobblemon itself, which spawns creatures around every player, gives each one its own movement and battle logic, and keeps the party and PC storage of everyone who has played.
| Players online | RAM needed | Plan size | Lowest price for that size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 to 5 | 8 GB | 8 GB | CheapestMinecraftHosting Plus, €6.40 a month in Poland (Warsaw) |
| 6 to 10 | 10 GB | 12 GB | CheapestMinecraftHosting Builder, €9.60 a month in Poland (Warsaw) |
| 11 to 20 | 15 GB | 16 GB | CheapestMinecraftHosting Pro, €12.80 a month in Poland (Warsaw) |
Astroworld Hosting counts the pack at 3 GB for up to three players, 4 GB for up to eight and 6 GB for up to sixteen, which is what it needs on a fresh world. Our figures plan for the world a few months in, with pastures full of creatures and every trainer's data saved. Choose the smaller size for a short season, and ours for a world you want to keep.
How to make a Cobblemon server
A Cobblemon server is set up in four steps, from the plan to the address you share:
- Order a plan with 8 GB or more. Set the server software to Fabric, or let the modpack installer do it.
- Install the Cobblemon Official Modpack from the panel. Search for it, pick the same version your friends have, and install. Astroworld Hosting's installer switches the server to Fabric for Minecraft 1.21.1 along the way.
- Start the server and wait for Done in the console. The first start loads the mods and builds the spawn area.
- Share the address. Your friends install the same pack version and join.
If you only want the mod, a Fabric server with Cobblemon and Fabric API is lighter still. Every player then needs the same Cobblemon version and Fabric API in their own game.
Cobblemon server on Modrinth or CurseForge
The Cobblemon Official Modpack by Cobbled Studios is on both Modrinth and CurseForge, and you can install it from either. Lodehost's panel searches Modrinth, CurseForge and Feed The Beast from one screen, Astroworld Hosting installs from the same three sources, and Cheapest Minecraft Hosting installs packs from its Mods tab. What matters is not the source but the version: the server and every player must run the same release of the pack.
Cobblemon vs Pixelmon: which is better for a server?
Cobblemon is better for a light server that looks like Minecraft, and Pixelmon is better for a server that plays like the Pokémon games. Cobblemon runs on Fabric with a NeoForge version, needs less RAM and keeps Minecraft's blocky look for its creatures. Pixelmon runs on NeoForge, has its own models, gyms and Poké Centers and asks a little more of the server. The two cannot run on the same server. See Pixelmon server hosting for the other half of the comparison.
Can Bedrock players join a Cobblemon server?
No, Bedrock players cannot join a Cobblemon server. Cobblemon needs its mod on each player's own computer to show its creatures, and Bedrock Edition cannot load Java mods. The tools that let Bedrock players join a Java server, such as Geyser, only work on servers without modded content like this.
