How much RAM does a COBBLEVERSE server need?
A COBBLEVERSE server needs about 12 GB of RAM for five players, 17 GB for ten and 27 GB for twenty. Version 1.7.42 lists 150 mods on Modrinth, which puts it with the packs of about 200 mods in our rule: about 7 GB before anyone joins and about 1 GB per player.
| Players online | RAM needed | Plan size | Lowest price for that size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 to 5 | 12 GB | 12 GB | CheapestMinecraftHosting Builder, €9.60 a month in Poland (Warsaw) |
| 6 to 10 | 17 GB | 24 GB | CheapestMinecraftHosting Crew, €19.20 a month in Poland (Warsaw) |
| 11 to 20 | 27 GB | 32 GB | CheapestMinecraftHosting Guild, €25.60 a month in Poland (Warsaw) |
The pack's own page recommends 6 GB or more for multiplayer and adds that the right amount depends on how many friends you invite. We start higher, because COBBLEVERSE fills the world with entities the server has to move: wild Pokémon, raid dens and trainers from Radical Cobblemon Trainers, up to 6 per player and 60 in total by the pack's settings. Only 93 of the 136 mod files have to run on the server; the others, such as Sodium, Iris and Mod Menu, are for the player's game.
COBBLEVERSE server pack and server files
COBBLEVERSE has no separate server pack, so the server files come from the same pack your players install. The full pack comes only from Modrinth, as a .mrpack of 239 MB, and an alternative edition on CurseForge leaves out the modified model files. A server needs 3 folders of the same version, 1.7.42 from 21 July 2026:
| Folder | What it holds | On the server |
|---|---|---|
| mods | 136 mod files, 43 of them only for the player's game | Yes, without those 43 |
| config | Over 100 settings files, among them Cobblemon, the trainers and Waystones | Yes |
| datapacks | 5 COBBLEVERSE data packs, plus 4 optional ones in datapacks/extra | Yes |
| resourcepacks | 30 packs with models, music and textures | No |
| shaderpacks | Complementary Unbound | No |
The datapacks folder is the one to watch. Global Packs, a mod in the pack, loads every data pack in it into every world, and those packs hold most of what makes COBBLEVERSE more than Cobblemon: spawns for all 1,025 Pokémon, the gyms and other structures, the raids and 156 trainers in 7 series. Some panel installers only place the mods from the pack's file list, and Astroworld Hosting's help article, for example, says its Modrinth installer leaves the pack's config folder out. On any host, check after the install that the server has COBBLEVERSE's config and datapacks folders. If not, upload them from your own install: right-click the pack in the Modrinth app and choose Open folder.
How to make a COBBLEVERSE server
A COBBLEVERSE server on a hosted plan takes 6 steps, and the order matters for the gyms:
- Get 12 GB for up to five players or 24 GB for ten, and set the server type to Fabric for Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Install COBBLEVERSE 1.7.42 from the panel's modpack search, in the edition your group plays.
- Check config and datapacks in the file manager, and upload both from your own install if they are missing.
- Start the server, wait for Done and type op with your name in the console, as in our guide to op yourself on a Minecraft server.
- Add Chunky, which COBBLEVERSE leaves out, and let it generate the land around spawn with
chunky radius 2000andchunky startbefore the group logs in. - Share the address with the version and the edition, so every launcher matches the server.
If the world is generated before the datapacks folder is in place, the explored part never gets COBBLEVERSE's gyms or structures, because Minecraft only places structures in new chunks. Start a new world, or send the group to land nobody has visited yet.
COBBLEVERSE regions: how to enable Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh
COBBLEVERSE regions start with Kanto, and an operator opens the other 3 with one command each, in this order: Johto, then Hoenn, then Sinnoh. Each command turns on that region's data pack from datapacks/extra, and the one for Hoenn also turns on Terralith:
/function setup:johto
/function setup:hoenn
/function setup:sinnohWait a few seconds between them and restart the server once after the last one; the pack says nothing in the world is lost or reset. The commands only work when the server has COBBLEVERSE's datapacks and config folders, matching those in your launcher. Without the commands, legendary structures unlock champion by champion, so Ho-Oh, Celebi and Lugia wait until the Kanto champion, Blue, has been beaten. New regions bring gyms and structures of their own, and those too only appear in chunks generated after the restart.
How to enable mobs and hunger on a COBBLEVERSE server
To enable mobs and hunger on a COBBLEVERSE server, delete 2 things and restart: the data pack COBBLEVERSE - No Hunger from the datapacks folder, and the mod MobsBeGone from the mods folder. Both work on the server only, so removing them from your own launcher changes nothing for the group.
The hunger pack keeps everyone fed by giving every player saturation on every tick. MobsBeGone works from a list in config/mobsbegone-blacklist.json, which names every vanilla mob except villagers, and it removes them however they spawn, from commands and structures too. To bring back only farm animals, keep the mod and take minecraft:cow, minecraft:sheep, minecraft:pig and minecraft:chicken off the list. The mod reads the list when the server starts, and the last entry must not end with a comma.
The Ender Dragon is switched off the same way, by the data pack COBBLEVERSE - No Ender Dragon. Delete it, and the dragon spawns in the End again next to Rayquaza.
COBBLEVERSE level cap: how to remove it
The COBBLEVERSE level cap stops Pokémon at level 25 at the start and rises with every trainer a player beats in the Kanto series: 8 Gym Leaders, then the Elite Four and the Champion in a tower in the End. It comes from Radical Cobblemon Trainers 0.18.1-beta, which sets the cap 5 levels above the strongest Pokémon of a player's next required trainer, and a Pokémon at the cap gains no experience.
To lift the cap to 100, a player with operator rights runs these 2 commands from the pack's wiki, which mark Kanto as finished:
/rctmod player set series kanto @s
/rctmod player set progress after kanto_champion_blueOn a server for more than 4 players, also look at maxTrainersTotal in config/rctmod-server.toml. COBBLEVERSE allows 6 trainers per player and 60 in total, and the mod's own note for bigger groups is the number of players plus 1, times the trainers per player: 66 for ten players.
Public COBBLEVERSE servers: what the pack allows
Public COBBLEVERSE servers are allowed with 3 limits from the pack's terms, while a private server for friends, family or a small community is completely free:
- No shop with COBBLEVERSE's own content. A public server that sells ranks, perks or items may not use the pack's custom structures, trainers or data packs.
- No COBBLEVERSE in the server's name. It may not be called or advertised as a COBBLEVERSE Server, while COBBLEVERSE Compatible or Optimized for COBBLEVERSE is fine.
- No re-uploads. The pack is All Rights Reserved, so tell players which version to install instead of sharing a zip of your server files.
The mods from other makers keep their own licences, and running the pack gives you no commercial rights to them, so a public server with a store has to check those one by one.
How to update a COBBLEVERSE server
To update a COBBLEVERSE server, make a backup, then replace COBBLEVERSE's files in config, mods and datapacks with those of the new version, and keep everything you added yourself. The pack's wiki adds 1 rule: only replace what is already on the server, and leave out files that exist only in your launcher, such as the client mods.
Players need the same version as the server, so agree on the day you all move. Releases can come close together: 1.7.40, 1.7.41b and 1.7.42 came out within 10 days in July 2026. Our Minecraft server backup guide explains how to go back if an update breaks the world.
